History will be made on Friday at Stradbrook as Cabinteely compete in the First Division Play-offs for the first time.

Having finished fourth – just a single point off second place, Cabo entertain Longford Town who claimed third spot after 27 League games.

With the hope a significant crowd attending Stradbrook on Friday, Cabinteely Director of Football Pat Devlin is looking forward to the Play-offs.

“It’s very worthwhile. It’s been a great season – the lads have been fantastic. We were perhaps unfortunate to finish fourth. We could have finished much higher”, he said.

“I think we underachieved a little. This gives the players and staff an opportunity to fix that. We played Longford three times this season. We’ve beaten them twice. But we wouldn’t underestimate them. There’s not a lot between us, So, it should be a very good game. And an interesting two-legs.”

Devlin stressed “We know we have a lot of work to do. We know we will have to work very hard over the two games. And hopefully get a little bit of luck along the way.”

Cabinteely report a near full squad available.

Alan Carey will take charge of the fixture with Shane O’Brien and Ciaran Delaney being the assistants. Adriano Reale is fourth official.

When the teams met at Stradbrook last July, a Rob Manley double gave the home side a 2-0 success.

Kieran Marty Waters’ late winner gave Cabo all three points when the clubs squared off last May at the City Calling Stadium.

The teams drew 1-1 at Stradbrook last March with Rob Manley cancelling out Sam Verdon’s opener.

The clubs first met in 2017. The ten meetings since then have seen both clubs claim four victories with the other two being drawn.
