Team News vs Shelbourne

Tolka Park

SSE Airtricity League First Division

Friday 29th February 2019

7.45 p.m.

After differing fortunes on the opening day of the 2019 season, Cabinteely make the trip across the Liffey to face Shelbourne.

Management Team View

Despite the defeat to Bray Wanderers, first team coach Graham O’Hanlon said the squad took plenty from the match.

“Last week was our first game together as a squad, with a few new faces. We did very well for the majority of the game against Bray. We were disappointed with the overall result, but we took a lot of encouragement out of the performance.”

He continued “We’re going to a very good Shels side on Friday. They have a lot of good, high quality players. But they are new team as well. So, obviously we’re hoping to exploit some of that. And build on the Bray positives from our point of view. And get a positive result.”

Player View

Having made is debut for Cabinteely last week against Bray, Rob Manley is looking to making an impact at his new club.

“I’m really enjoying it. The team has been great. I knew a few of the lads before joining. It’s going well so far.”

The striker is also looking forward to pitting his wits against Shelbourne – considering he lives close to Tolka Park.

“It’s going to be a tough game. I only live up the road from Tolka, so I’m looking forward to it. We have a strong side this year. Some teams might underestimate how good we are. I think we will challenge every team we face. We’ve a good balance to the side.”

Team News

Despite a number of players carrying knocks, Cabinteely hope to have a full squad available for the game.

Andrew Mullally will take charge of the fixture with Adam Tszampel and Patrick O’Connor the assistants. Paula Brady is fourth official.

Cabinteely were unbeaten in their three league meetings with Shelbourne in 2018, winning once and drawing twice.

Their last success at Tolka Park came in May 2017 in a 4-1 triumph.
