Tolka Park

SSE Airtricity League First Division

Cabinteely put their five-match unbeaten run on the line when they face First Division leaders Shelbourne on Friday at Tolka Park.

As pacesetters, the Reds have won their last eight league matches in a row.

Their last defeat came at Stradbrook in May when Kieran Marty Waters’s effort sealed the points in Cabo’s favour 1-0.

Back in March – in Shels only loss at Tolka Park this season – the visitors won 3-2.

With the top six clubs all playing each other this weekend, Cabinteely’s Director of Football/Manager Pat Devlin accepts it is important to get a positive result as the promotion and play-off chase intensifies.

“We’ve had the Indian sign on Shelbourne this season and we’ve won the two previous meetings,” he said. “We’re back to the form we were in earlier and we have to go to Tolka with a confidence of winning the game and we’re looking forward to the challenge. If we have any ambitions for the League then we must go to Tolka looking for the win”.

Devlin went on point out competition for places within the Cabinteely squad is a major factor going into the final phase of the season.

“We’ve brought in a few extra players and we’re in a situation where we play Shelbourne, Longford Town, Drogheda United and Limerick FC in our next four First Division matches. In between, we have Cork City in the FAI Cup. That’s going to keep fellas on their toes.”

He continued “They’ll want to play in those games. It’s a fantastic opportunity for lads in the team at the moment. It’s also something for players not in the team at the moment to strive for and they may get that opportunity to play.”

Cabinteely have a near-full squad to select from going into the Dublin derby.

The match officials are from the Irish Football Association (IFA). Keith Kennedy is the referee. Stephen Donaldson and Kirstin Hannah are the two Assistants. Evan Boyce is the fourth official.

Cabinteely are unbeaten in their last five league meetings with Shelbourne.

That includes a 3-2 win at Tolka Park last March as well as a 1-0 success at Stradbrook last May.
