Tonight we welcome Athlone Town to Stradbrook in our final home game of the 2017 SSE Airtricity League season.

We have faced Athlone Town three times this season so far, in the first time Cabo lead 3-1 going into injury time but two late goals denied Cabo the chance to go top of the league with the match ending 3-3. In our previous home match against Athlone, Cabo won 2-0 thanks to a Marty Waters brace on the night. Our other match against Athlone finished 1-1 in Lissywoolen thanks to Joe Doyle’s equaliser in the second half.

Cabo come into this match on the back of a brilliant 3-0 win away to Cobh Ramblers last week, our first ever win away to the Cork side. We have taken 9 points from a possible 12 this season against the second placed side, a testament to the progress that has been made by Cabo this season.

Joe Doyle returned to the starting lineup for the first time since representing Ireland in the World University Games in Tapei. Doyle opened the scoring with a thunderous strike into the roof of the net, he then doubled Cabo’s lead in the second half with a driven finish into the bottom corner. Late on Dean Casey added gloss to the scoreline when he connected with a brilliant cross from Conor Earley and volleyed home for his first goal for the club.

Athlone lost 4-1 away to Shelbourne last week which keeps Shelbourne as Cabo’s competitors, along with Longford, to finish in 4th spot. Our final match of the 2017 season is away to Shelbourne on Saturday the 7th of October.

Never miss a Cabo game again!
