Football Manager Competition
We ran a competition which received international media coverage and recognition. The premise of the promotion was simple, the first person to win the Premier Division as manager of Cabinteely F.C. in the computer game Football Manager will win a free Cabinteely F.C. season ticket for the 2016 season! Copa90 are a brilliant sports website that have become known for their excellent Youtube channel covering all things football. Mario Balotelli Tweet
We were putting together some stats and realised that a few of our attacking players were a bit more prolific than £16 million Liverpool and Italian international player Mario Balotelli and felt we needed to share this! Our tweet to Balotelli was tweeted 1,200 times. It wasn’t long before big news outlets and websites caught wind of our tweet and began sharing the story!

Our marketing partners, The Link Marketing, had a look at the stats and made a map of all the countries talking about Cabinteely F.C. which is seen below. There has also been visitors to our website from a staggering 109 different countries!
Yaya Toure Birthday Cake
We now take a look at how the media at home and abroad reacted to us buying Yaya Toure a birthday cake for his birthday. As you may recall, last year Yaya Toure was not best pleased when Manchester City failed to buy him a cake and make a fuss about his birthday. We decided that we would let Yaya know that we were celebrating his birthday and tweeted this.
As word began to spread about our gesture for Yaya, we soon started seeing Cabinteely F.C. appearing across the internet. The first of which was SportsJoe.ie who ran this story:

Next up featured on Reddit. Reddit has over 150 million visitors each month and we were on the first page of their sports section. A Reddit user had shared the article from SportsJoe.ie and it was ranking up beside the Juventus and Real Madrid Champions League Semi Final in popularity.
After all of the media attention and buzz that Cabinteely had created, it wasn’t long before Paddy Power began to take bets on Cabinteely F.C. being Yaya Toure’s next football club giving odds of 500/1!
The Link Marketing
Our marketing partners The Link Marketing analysed all the data and looked at all of the different countries that were interacting with the Yaya Toure story and the betting slip offer we ran last week and they produced the following: This is every country that was talking about Cabinteely F.C. at the time!
We featured on the official FIFA website! FIFA published an article of all the best quotes in football for that week. It features quotes from the likes of David Beckham, Rafael Nadal, Diego Maradona, Del Piero and Cabinteely F.C.!

We got a nice write up on the back page of the Sports section in Saturday’s edition of The Irish Times.
This story is slightly different to all previous, it doesn’t relate to Yaya Toure. The Guardian in England were linking Petr Cech to a number of club and then say but he is definitely not signing for Cabinteely F.C. while we are disappointed that Petr will not be on the bench next season (he wouldn’t get in ahead of our Evan Whelan) it is nice to see that we are on the radar and one of the biggest newspapers in the UK mentioned us!

Cabinteely F.C. Education Initiative
The club received lots of media coverage when we announced that we had partnered with The Dublin School of Grinds to offer free Leaving Certificate grinds to our players.

Losing Bet Slip Promotion
You may have seen the special offer that we posted after John McKeown’s equalising goal last season. After John’s goal we noticed that a lot of people had written Cabo off and had backed Finn Harps to win the game. Cabo’s late equaliser was met by a lot of people saying that the goal had cost them money. We then decided to offer these fans free entry to our next home game so they can see for themselves why they shouldn’t write Cabinteely off!
