SSE Airtricity League First Division

Friday February 28

7.45 p.m.

Cabinteely face into their first SSE Airtricity League First Division away game of the 2020 season against Athlone Town on Friday at the Athlone Town Stadium.
Cabinteely started the campaign last week with a 4-2 home victory over Bray Wanderers in the East Coast derby at Stradbrook while Athlone’s proposed away fixture against Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

MANAGEMENT TEAM VIEW

Cabinteely’s Assistant Manager/First Team Coach Eddie Gormley praised the work ethic of the side in their hard-earned success over Bray at a wet and windy Stradbrook last week.
However, he stressed they must work just as hard against Athlone.
“It was a great performance against Bray considering the conditions. The players have to take a lot of credit for the way they adapted, because it was the worst conditions I’ve ever witnessed at a match in my life.”
Gormley went on to say “Athlone will be a difficult game for us. We must focus on the task in hand. We’ve had a good week’s training behind us. Athlone obviously didn’t play last week and will be hungry to get a good result. We’ll go there, work hard and see where it takes us.”

Cabinteely hope to have a near full squad at their disposal.

REFEREE

Michael Connolly will take charge of the fixture with Dermot Broughan and Alan Dunne being the assistants. Marc Lynch is fourth official.
