Cabinteely FC 2016 Mini World Cup!

Never mind the Euros – from 7th- 18th of June, World Cup Fever will hit Cabinteely!  Over 1,100 children will play in the biggest-ever Mini World Cup, to be held in Cabinteely Football Club in Kilbogget Park, Co. Dublin.

Cabinteely FC is delighted to announce Volkswagen, celebrating the opening of Frank Keane Volkswagen in Deansgrange, as its official sponsor and guarantees to bring an action-packed festival of football which will be the highlight of the summer for kids.  With thanks to Volkswagen, the ISPCC Childline Freephone number 1800 666 666 will feature on the children’s T-shirts throughout the tournament. Childline volunteers will run a collection for its 24- hour listening service during the tournament.

Cabinteely Mini World Cup 2016 will attract over a thousand young players of all ages, boys and girls, from pre-schoolers up to U-12s. Up to seventeen pitches will be in continuous use throughout the tournament, and a large volume of spectators, fans, family members are expected to come along and enjoy the spectacle on these long summer evenings.

Cabinteely F.C Chairman, Mark Smith said “We are delighted to be hosting our 27th Mini World Cup here in Cabinteely Football Club.  The tournament will be the biggest yet.  It is a massive feat of organisation, with 108 teams of all ages representing countries from all over the globe – from the northernmost team Greenland to our southernmost team Chile.

We hope to discover talent to rival Ronaldo, Mia Hamm, Marta and Messi, and we hope every child will enjoy the teamwork, the fresh air and the skills development, as well as the great fun of this huge tournament.  It is the highlight of the summer, and we rely on a great team of volunteers to make it happen: sincere thanks to our generous sponsors Volkswagen.”
